VACCINE PROGRAM AWARD

LSFP is pleased to announce we received the Outstanding Virginia Vaccines for Children(VVFC) Compliance Recognition award this year.  This certificate is awarded to all practices that have outstanding vaccination rates, excellent documentation of vaccines given, proper vaccine storage and handling procedures and compliance with all VVFC guidelines.  Congratulations to our clinical teams and to our Clinical Manager, Lisa Gray!

LSFP has been enrolled in the VVFC program for several years.  VVFC was established in 1994 to help improve childhood immunization levels in the United States which in turn will decrease the incidence of preventable childhood diseases like pertussis and polio.  State and Federal guidelines must be met in order to provide this service to eligible children.  Eligible children are those covered by Medicaid or who have no insurance coverage at all for routine vaccines.  These childhood vaccines are supplied by the state to participating health care providers free of charge.  Children who qualify for these vaccines are vaccinated in our office without their families having to incur the cost themselves and without having to travel to the local health department.  This also improves tracking of administered vaccines since the shots can all be given by the primary care provider and documented in the patients primary medical record.

LSFP continues to strive toward providing the best clinical care possible and to being a health care advocate for all our patients, especially to our pediatric population who cannot advocate for themselves.  Decreasing the incidence of preventable diseases is a battle we can all participate in and win.
